This guy is Hilarious, Watch the Fonejacker

Fonejacker is the protagonist in the homonymous show about a masked prank caller; in this fictional show, members of the public are called by actor Kayvan Novak, while impersonating different characters. Reminiscent to Monty Python, the show includes pictures of people animated with funny cut-out mouths. Additional scenes depict the Fonejacker through undercover filming, making a call from the street to a nearby company. Except for the Pilot – where he wore black – he always wears a red and white balaclava and sunglasses.

Kayvan Novak does not show his face while playing the Fonejacker; however, he can be seen during Mr Doovdés calls… doing model advertisement for various items including DVD players and for dfs.

Fonejacker episodes usually start with a definition of what the term “fonejack” means: to seize control of a telephone conversation by farce esp – to divert it from reason and logic; subsequently, the protagonist makes a call to the Directory Enquires from an American payphone, passing off as Mr. Doovdé. Rather than Mr Doovdé, it was Mike who headlined the fifth episode.

The final episode of the first series revealed that two callers had previously been fonejacked by George, implying that the Fonejacker series 2 does not inform the victim the call was a prank. Some Fonejacks are not broadcast, since those two callers hadn’t been seen in other episodes.

It was from within Channel’s 4 Comedy Lab (a show featuring up-and-coming talents) that Fonejacker’s pilot episode was produced, in 2006. After much popularity, it was given a six-part series in October 2006 for it to broadcast on E4 in April in the following year. There was also a Christmas special comprising a five-minute short version of the pilot, called Fonejacker’s Christmas Message; it was broadcast on December 29, 2006. The Fonejacker Christmas special finished with the following message: Coming April 2007 – Don’t Pick Up The Phone.

In March, a teaser trailer started to air on Channel 4 and E4, which consisted of clips of the pilot put together into a thirty second advert. When April came, not only the show wasn’t aired, but it was put on hold for undisclosed reasons, False rumors began spreading that broadcast would start June 7 2007. After this, talk spread that the show would start on June 7 2007, they were also lies. There would no longer be a show – some fans started to think – however new trailers got aired in June that proved them otherwise. The new clips announced “New sightings of the Fonejacker” from a news report in the Fonejacker’s own television, even as he proceeded to make various calls. The new adverts ended with the catchphrase Don’t Pick Up The Phone, followed with the same E4 webpage. Some days after, a newer advert followed.

Just a few hours before the airing of his show, the Fonejacker called into Big Brother’s Little Brother, pretending he was Terry Tibbs chatting with one Carrie about a Rolls Royce. Since no one had obviously mentioned Fonejacker’s telephonic prank, presenter Dermot O’Leary was himself quite confused. Just below E4’s on-screen graphic, a sign was displayed throughout the night stating “Fonejacker Tonight 10-30”, as part of its advertising.

The fan site has many soundboards, im quite particular to the fonejacker soundboard that features terry tibbs, this one always makes me giggle.

At 10-30pm on July 5, 2007 the usage of strong profanity was raised to unprecedented marks, with Fonejacker’s show premiere.Starting from the 9th of September 2008, the second series was broadcast. It remains a mystery if a third series will ever get commissioned.
